What: The Rowley Inn, a gastropub that was built in 1906.
Where it’s located: 1104 Rowley Ave., on northwest corner of Rowley Avenue and West 11th Street in Tremont
When it’s open: Kitchen — 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday; bar — 5:30 a.m. to close every day.
Why you should go: There are plenty of cool spots to eat and drink in Tremont, but none other within a stone’s throw (or BB gun shot) of the A Christmas Story House. So if you are planning a visit to the historical house in the film and want a meal within a short walking distance, the Rowley Inn is the place.
What you should eat: The Reuben was a high point of a recent visit. The BLT came with at least 10 strips of bacon, and a fried egg atop it for an additional $1 was well worth it.
