Stay fresh with Fiona’s Coffee Bar & Bakery

A lot of people, especially my ones in my age group, hear someone talk of Downtown Willoughby they immediately think of the bar scene. While I do regularly participate in nights out in “DTW,” I know the downtown strip has a lot more to offer.

Like its restaurant and food selection. It continues to grow with plenty of places to grab a satisfying meal including recently opened local favorite Barrio.

But Fiona’s Coffee Bar & Bakery, 4148 Erie Street, has become my regular spot. You might hear coffee bar and think it is where the hipster millennials hang out, but I find Fiona’s is filled with many groups of people of all age groups. It is a warm homey place where it is easy to relax and sip some coffee. The staff helps provide a welcoming environment and is always willing to help customers out.

You can find me there glued to whatever book I am reading (currently rereading “Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda” to prepare for the upcoming movie Love, Simon) or drowning myself in Spotify.

What also makes Fiona’s appealing to me is they pride themselves on having local Ohio products available for purchase like Mitchell’s Ice Cream or items from Patterson’s Fruit Farm. Plus in their bakery and kitchen, items are homemade that day. Known for their fresh-baked mini donuts, they also have many other foods to snack on including salads and homemade bagel sandwiches. My all-time favorite is Fiona’s freshly made banana cake which is limited to when it is in house so it goes quickly and for good reason. It is moist, rich and I could eat a piece every day (and now I am drooling).

Of course, Fiona’s has a full coffee menu available. I don’t tend to venture away from my normal vanilla lattes or caramel macchiatos (iced or hot) but I don’t have a bad thing to say about either I have had made by Fiona’s. They do tend to have seasonal baked good and coffees including flavors like pumpkin spice or peppermint mocha (SO BASIC).

Fiona’s Coffee Bar & Bakery is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays; 6 a.m. to midnight, Fridays and Saturdays; and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sundays. They would love for you to come in and have a ‘cup of Joe’ and a baked good.

You can find more information and stay updated on items available in the bakery on Fiona’s Facebook page.
