What’s happening the week of the 2018 Rock Hall inductions

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is welcoming its Class of 2018 in a ceremony in Cleveland on April 14. Leading up to the main event, the Rock Hall has several other events on the calendar:

  • CIFF screening: “Bad Reputation”: 7:30 p.m. April 6, Rock Hall’s Foster Theater. Only standby tickets are available for this documentary that follows Joan Jett’s life story. It’s part of the 42nd Cleveland International Film Festival.
  • Celebration Day: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. April 7, Rock Hall. The official kickoff to Rock Week includes free admission to the Rock Hall, live music, family activities, new exhibits, educational programs, food trucks and film screenings.
  • In-Museum Inductee Highlights: April 9-14, Rock Hall. Visitors can explore the lives and music of the Class of 2018. Trivia and prizes are part of the fun. Free with Rock Hall admission.
  • Author Series: Gayle Wald: 7 p.m. April 11, Rock Hall’s Foster Theater. Wald will discuss her book “Shout, Sister, Shout!: The Untold Story of Rock-and-Roll Trailblazer Sister Rosetta Tharpe,” during this free event. Tharpe is being honored as an early influencer this year.
  • Hall of Fame Series: The Moody Blues: 8 p.m. April 12, Rock Hall’s Klipsch Audio Main Stage. Arrive early for this limited capacity, standing-room-only event that’s free with Rock Hall admission.
  • Silent No More: #MeToo and the Music Industry: noon to 1:30 p.m. April 12, City Club of Cleveland. The panel discussion includes Meredith Rutledge-Borger (assistant curator for the Rock Hall), Noelle Scaggs (co-lead singer of Fitz and the Tantrums) and Gayle Wald (professor of English at the Columbian College of Arts & Science at George Washington University), moderated by Lauren Onkey (senior director of NPR Music). Tickets are $35; tables are $350-$450.
  • Red Carpet Livestream: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 14. Watch artists, celebrities and guests arrive for the induction ceremony on the Rock Hall’s Facebook or YouTube pages.
  • Induction Ceremony and Official Simulcast: 7:30 p.m. April 14. Both are sold out. You can watch the ceremony on HBO at a later date.
  • Induction Afterparty with DJ Questlove: 11 p.m. April 14, House of Blues Cleveland. Tickets for the three-hour set are $30 in advance, or $35 day of show.
  • Hall of Fame Series: Bill Bruford of Yes: 7 p.m. April 18, Rock Hall’s Foster Theater. The 2017 Rock Hall inductee will talk about his career, and an audience Q&A will be part of the $10 event.
