Be careful when you’re driving along the stretch of Interstate 71 in Middleburg Heights — even more so than usual. The 75,000-square-foot future Fat Head’s Brewery could be a bit of a distraction, especially if you like beer halls and barbeque.
Fat Head’s is targeting a mid-2018 opening for its new brewery and tap room at 17450 Engle Lake Drive. The eight-acre site is about a mile away from the taproom it will replace on Sheldon Road.
Fat Head’s will double its production capacity with the move, providing 74 new jobs, the company said in a news release.
In addition to a 250-seat bar and restaurant, the new brewery will serve as a bottling, packaging and distribution center. Customers can go on self-guided tours and check the equipment and process that made Fat Head’s the state’s winningest brewery with 19 Great American Beer Festival medals and 6 World Beer Cup medals in less than a decade.
“We want to be a seen as craft beer destination,” Brewmaster Matt Cole said. “This new building gives us that opportunity.”
