Since 1946, John Christ Winery has filled goblets with sweet wines — blackberry, peach and raspberry — common in the region.
A special blend of Concord and Niagara tops a list of the 17 wines made on site and offered at John Christ Winery.
An appetizer menu of cheese and sausage boards, as well as meatballs, is supplemented by special activities such as clam bakes, seafood nights and visiting food truck nights.
In the summer, the winery pitches two large tents in the back to accommodate parties such as bridal and baby showers.
Annually on Labor Day weekend, John Christ Winery stages a large art show, Vine Art, featuring as many local and Ohio artists as possible.
Also, a very popular event is once-a-month murder mysteries which begin at 6:30 p.m. with a half hour of mingling, followed by selecting about eight guests to participate as characters along with the acting company presenting the murder mystery. A main actress keeps the show moving the entire three hours. And dinner is served. The next murder mystery night is July 28, but tickets sell quickly.
