Oak Barrel in Valley View mixes sophistication with a rustic vibe

What: The Oak Barrel – Brasserie and Taphouse, a locally owned farm-to-table style restaurant opened in 2012.

Where it’s located: 5975 Canal Road, on the east side of Canal, a few minutes from Interstates 480 and 77 in Valley View.

When it’s open:  11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday

Why you should go: Located a few feet from Cinemark at Valley View and XD, Oak Barrel is the place to grab a quick pre-movie bite or a post-movie drink and snack.

What you should eat: The Open Face Pulled Pork BBQ is served on top of jalapeno cornbread with house slaw and tobacco onions, making it a hearty, spicy, and satisfying dish.
