You can’t go wrong with a burger and a beer on Great Lakes Brewing Co.’s patio

A lot of Northeast Ohioans say their favorite season here is fall, but they are wrong.

Patio season is the best season in Northeast Ohio.

Perfect patio season can feel rare in these parts. It comes when the temperatures hover in the mid-70s in the evening, as the sun sets so you’re not experiencing the blazing heat from above. Ideally, a warm breeze occasionally rustles the tree leaves above.

The perfect patio location? Anywhere you can sit and enjoy a conversation with good company, some food and/or a frosty beverage.

I recently found a perfect patio evening at Great Lakes Brewing Co. A burger. A beer. A breeze. My boyfriend.

Great Lakes Brewing Co. has a great patio at its Ohio City brewpub. Diners are seated off Market Street, away from the buzz and traffic of West 25th.

For patio season, I’d recommend a pilsner or light ale to drink, and a burger or sandwich to eat. The Old World burger (smoked cheddar, housemade Edmund Fitzgerald Porter barbecue sauce, bacon, fried onion straws, pretzel roll) is my favorite food menu item, and the Turntable Pils is always a great beer, but especially for outdoor drinking.

And when you realize how much you love that Edmund Fitzgerald Porter barbecue sauce and how much you need to take home a six-pack or growler, you can pop into the gift shop next door. (If you can’t wait til your next visit to get your Great Lakes swag, visit their online store.)
