I’ve heard so many good things about Punch Bowl Social in the last year or so, but didn’t make it to the “eatertainment” facility in The Flats until this week.
And let me tell you: All of those good things are true.
Punch Bowl Social is a bar-restaurant-arcade-bowling alley-game room open from morning to night seven days a week, and friendly to all ages for most of the hours of operation. With eight bowling lanes, old-school arcade games, karaoke rooms, shuffleboard, foosball, multiple bars, plenty of seating, a rooftop patio, a full menu and more, there is really something for everyone.
My recommendation? Reserve a bowling lane for you and some friends. Order several appetizer plates and a punch bowl to share. Enjoy the bowling until your time is up, then move to the arcade games, a bar, the rooftop patio with 360-degree views of The Flats and Lake Erie.
During my visit, my favorite plates for sharing were the Lil’ Street Tacos and the It’s Nacho Mama’s — which have roasted cauliflower, which I normally avoid. Both dishes were so good, it will be hard to ever order something else from the menu.
Brunch is served until 3 p.m. (ish) Saturday and Sunday, and that menu has a whole lotta other delicious-sounding dishes. Plus, there’s a Bloody Mary Bar: “featuring an assortment of juices, a variety of hot sauces, multiple seasonings and salts, and more than 20 different toppings including meats (bacon, salami, ham, pepperoni and shrimp) veggies (celery, carrots, pickled green beans, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, baby corn and pickles) cheeses, pretzels and fresh horseradish.”
You can’t forget about the punches. The menu currently includes one called The King’s Cup, named for LeBron James. And a good drink option for a hot summer day: boozy milkshakes.
Also through Aug. 31, kids bowl for free at Punch Bowl Social from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Punch Bowl Social is at 1086 W. 11th St. For more information or to make a reservation, visit punchbowlsocial.com/location/cleveland or call 216-239-1508. (Before planning your visit, you also can check out Punch Bowl’s Facebook page, where weekly activities and availability are updated regularly.)
If you’re looking for something to do in The Flats this Friday night …
Flats East Bank’s Flat Out Fridays presented by Downtown Cleveland Alliance returns with free live entertainment on the waterfront Aug. 10. The event begins at 7 p.m. with a performance by Carlos Jones and the Plus Band along with beverages, pop-up shops and sweet treats, according to a news release.
