Everyone talks about how early Christmas whatnots and thingamajigs hit the stores, but we really should be talking about how quickly we move from a long-awaited summer into fall. My late August birthday now means I’m celebrating with pumpkin beers, and apparently now I’ll also be looking forward to the start of Pumpkin Spice Latte Season.
PSL Season started Aug. 28 this year, the earliest the infamous Starbucks drink has ever hit menus. I call this drink infamous because, well, have you ever been on the internet? It generates a lot of intense feelings!
I know our society has just about reached 100 percent pumpkin spice saturation from September through October, and prior to 2015 the PSL didn’t contain actual pumpkin, and some people hate the taste of the gourd and all fall seasonings that work well with it, and we should be supporting local coffee shops and their seasonal brews, but …
If you like the PSL, drink the PSL! You should enjoy what you want to enjoy for whatever reason you want to enjoy it, no matter how many memes describe you as a terrible person for how you like your sweet caffeinated drinks.
Patio season is just the best in Northeast Ohio, but after these incredibly humid days, aren’t we all craving a taste of fall? Just a little bit?
And for those who want the taste of fall but don’t want to let go of summer, I recommend you order a Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino, which features all the fall spices in the frozen blended beverage. It’s a nice mix for when the seasons feel like they’re overlapping.
