Horse-drawn hay wagon rides and corn maze planned at Carlisle Reservation

It’s all about togetherness in the outdoors as Lorain County Metro Parks presents horse-drawn hay wagon rides and a corn maze.

The rides happen from noon to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 15 through Oct. 7 at the Equestrian Center of Carlisle Reservation at 13630 Diagonal Road in LaGrange.

Also, a special Friday evening Sunset Celebration, including fall hay wagon rides and corn maze, is 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 5.

The cost is $1 per person per activity. Children ages 3 years and younger may play for free.

The old-fashioned wagon rides leave about every 15 minutes from in front of a grandstand at the Equestrian Center, and last about 30 minutes. They’re great for snuggling together and enjoying the fall colors.

The corn maze covers six acres and sports a new design each year. Answer trivia along the way and ring the bell when you reach the middle of the maze.

A concession stand is available, but expect a long wait for the ride.

Since the outdoor activities are weather dependent, call ahead at 440-458-5121 on the day you plan to attend in case of bad weather or high wind advisories.

Things to look for on the wagon ride: horses (and find out their names and what kind of horses they are), flocks of ducks or geese migrating south for the winter, leaves of each color, grasshoppers, butterflies, flowers, people sharing the ride with you.
