Civil War Days ushers folks back to mid-1800s at park near Vermilion

A second annual Civil War Days offers a glimpse into a fully costumed and outfitted era with soldier encampments 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22-23 at Mill Hollow Park of Vermilion River Reservation.

The family-friendly event will help youngsters see and experience an authentic soldiers’ encampment while learning about the war.

Demonstrations include period cooking, photography, medicine, uniforms, other clothing, artillery fire demonstrations, drinking sarsaparilla, and playing old-fashioned games.

Also, the historic Bacon Home will be open for self-guided tours.

Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the free event all day while learning about the Civil War period of American history at Mill Hollow at 51211 North Ridge Road near Vermilion.

The event is presented by the Brownhelm Historical Association and Lorain County Metro Parks.
