MOCA Cleveland event looks at women in hip-hop

What: eCLEctic: Ladies First: Women in the Hip-Hop Industry

Why you should go: Northeast Ohio’s women of hip-hop will be speaking about their experiences and evolution within the culture. The event is an extension of Martine Syms’ current exhibition, “An Evening With Queen White,” and will feature two panel discussions: “The Evolution of Women in Urban/Hip-hop Radio,” and “Women in the Hip-hop Industry.” Featured panelists include Z107.9 radio personality Bijou Star, Lady Skill of WDMT-FM 108 (Cleveland’s first urban radio station, circa 1978) and DJ Red-I, who is a DJ, record shop owner and record label owner. The evening also will include performances from Baby Lit 216 and Fresh Produce.
