Ohio’s first bicycle film festival coming to Akron

What: REEL Cycling Film Festival

Where: Highland Square Theatre, 826 W. Market St., Akron

When: 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 4. Doors opens at 1:30.

Why you should go: The festival aims to showcase some of the world’s best short films with bicycle themes, according to a news release from its organizers, the NorthEast Ohio Safe Trails & Roads initiative. Their goal is to “build a greater sense of community among the public and to raise funds for the continued maintenance of local routes in need of repair.”

Area bike shops have been invited to donate prizes to be raffled off during breaks, and everyone in attendance will be automatically entered in the drawing.

How much: $20, in advance at Highland Square Box and day of show while supplies last. Children under 10 admitted free with an adult.
