Contemporary Youth Orchestra plans Cleveland concerts in November

Cleveland-based Contemporary Youth Orchestra has announced plans to start its 24th season. The shows on Nov. 10 and 17 are at the Tri-C Metro Auditorium, 2809 Woodland Ave., and tickets are available now.

CYO Origins Ensembles Present: The Music of Jason Treuting ft. arx duo

When: 7 p.m. Nov. 10

Why you should go: Innovative composer and performer Jason Treuting will join Origins Percussion, Strings and Winds and critically acclaimed percussionists arx duo for an evening of original music, including the World Premiere performance of “Oblique Music.”

CYO presents Hit the Road

When: 7 p.m. Nov. 17

Why you should go: CYO will be accompanied by members of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps for “MESH: Concerto for Drumline and Orchestra,” composed by Michael McIntosh, who will be in attendance. Also part of the program: “Thunderstruck” by Christopher Rouse, “Route 66” by Michael Daugherty and “Poem for Flute & Orchestra” by Charles Griffes, featuring flautist and Concerto Competition winner Lily Waugh.
