Celebrate the holidays in the old, old-fashioned way at Vermilion River Reservation

An old-fashioned holiday at Mill Hollow offers pioneer holiday festivities re-enactments at the Benjamin Bacon House.

The free event presented by Lorain County Metro Parks is 3 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2 to 6 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Carriage Barn of Vermilion River Reservation at 51211 North Ridge Road in Vermilion.

Activities in the Carriage Barn include hearth-side cooking demonstrations, live holiday music and refreshments for sale to benefit Friends of the Metro Parks.

Horse-drawn carriage rides are available, and donations are appreciated.

Tickets are free on a “walk-in” basis. But groups of eight or more are asked to call 440-967-7310 for reservations.

The hope is to share the merriment of the season in the traditions of Brownhelm Township.
