On Sunday, March 24, the Sno Chalet, a small café that operates the vintage chalet building overlooking the sledding hill at Punderson State Park, will host a handmade and outdoorsman market bringing together a collective of the best local artisans, sporting good vendors and outdoor sport enthusiasts to celebrate of the onset of spring, according to a news release.
Market in the Woods is sure to delight the many visitors looking for pancake breakfasts and spring focused events throughout Geauga County.
The market includes local maple producers who will provide syrup samples, sugaring information and, of course, maple products for sale however the highlight will be the authentic Belgian Liege waffles featured by the Sno Chalet.
Touts the release:
These waffles, straight from Belgium, are not your ordinary breakfast staple. The dough is filled with pearl sugars that caramelize and crisps atop the flaky donut-like texture. Considered a Belgian pastry, they are like nothing you have ever tried. In addition to maple syrup, these waffles can be topped with chocolates, drizzles, fresh fruit, nuts, candies,
bacon and homemade whipped cream for the ultimate waffle experience. You may want to swing by the market just for brunch. These Belgian waffles are the new alternative to the pancake breakfasts traditionally offered around the county throughout March.
“The waffles on our menu are the same ones that you will find on the ski slopes of Vermont,” explains Sno Chalet owner Kelly Pierce. “Our love for winter activities and local maple syrup inspired us to offer these Belgian pastries to winter sport enthusiasts at the park. They have been a huge hit.”
After you have satisfied your waffle craving and enjoyed a Rising Star espresso drink or hot apple cider, plan to spend the rest of the afternoon shopping the interesting offerings at the market.
Pick up a bouquet of fresh tulips or unique houseplant; register for a summer paddle board yoga class; learn how to play disc golf and nab the best equipment; check out the newest hiking, camping and fishing gear, and fill your bag with an unbelievable array of handmade treasures. After shopping, challenge your friends to a scavenger hunt that will take you in and around the state park searching for landmarks and taking selfies in order to win prizes. There are all sorts of opportunity for adventure at the market.
