Celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month at Fine Arts

Music, food and fun. What more could you ask for?

The Women’s Committee of The Fine Arts Association will present a musical celebration for Jazz Appreciation Month on April 10.

Pianist Joe Hunter and an all-female jazz combo of students from the Tri-C JazzFest Academy will perform.

The academy is a program for students ages 12-18 that provides the opportunity to learn alongside working jazz musicians to develop and refine their performance skills, according to a news release.

Hunter is an instructor at Tri-C and a solo artist with various bands, including Bill Rudman’s Musical Theater Project. He also plays frequently at the Waterbury Coach House, Salmon Dave’s, Nighttown and the Music Box Supper Club.

The menu for the “Second Wednesday” program will be Italian stuffed saltimbocca chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto ham, provolone cheese and marinara sauce, served with penne pasta and Normandy vegetables; lemon squares are the dessert.

All programs begin at 1 a.m. at The Fine Arts Association, 38660 Mentor Avenue, Willoughby,  followed by the luncheon at noon in the lobby (limited seating).

The cost is $15 a member, $18 non-member, $10 program only. For reservations, call 440.951.7500, ext. 103, or email fineartsrsvp@gmail.com no later than April 5.
