Comic Ari Shaffir at Hilarities — this IS happening

Maybe a double-negative can make a positive.

Comedian, actor and podcaster Ari Shaffir titled his related Netflix specials “Double Negative,” with one 45-minute installment subtitled “Children,” the other “Adulthood.

He’ll show off his accessible stand-up stylings to Cleveland’s Hilarities 4th Street Theatre at Pickwick & Frolic Restaurant & Club for shows May 9.

Some more background on “Double Negative” and Shaffir from a news release sent from his publicity representatives:

Self-described as his version of a “Smashing Pumpkins Double Album,” this type of double header release hasn’t been seen since George Carlin’s 1972 release of FM & AM. In Children, Shaffir discusses the pressure he is getting from his family and friends to have kids, and why he is getting more and more thoughts in his head about why he doesn’t want to do that and in Adulthood, he discusses the freedoms of being child-free. Decider.com called Shaffir’s Netflix debut “positively audacious.”

Shaffir recently completed three seasons as the host and co-creator of Comedy Central’s weekly storytelling series “This Is Not Happening,” the release states, and he hosts the podcast “Skeptic Tank,” a weekly interview show where he chats with everyone from parents to comedians to prostitutes “to help better understand humanity and also to make fart jokes.”

He appeared in the 2016 spy comedy “Keeping Up With the Joneses.”
