Cleveland Orchestra’s Star-Spangled Spectacular moves to August

The Cleveland Orchestra’s 30th annual free community concert in downtown Cleveland will take place at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9.

The Star-Spangled Spectacular, brought to you by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture and sponsored by KeyBank, typically takes place around Independence Day, this year it’s moving to August due to the 2019 Major League Baseball All-Star Game / Play Ball Park activities throughout downtown Cleveland in early July, according to a news release.

This year’s free family-friendly event will be on Mall B, at 300 St. Clair Ave. between the Global Center for Health Innovation and Cleveland Public Auditorium.

The concert will be led by guest conductor Loras John Schissel and include classical and patriotic favorites.

Pre-concert video presentations and food truck vendors will begin at 6 p.m. Fireworks will follow the concert at about 10:15 p.m.
