Lorain County Metro Parks offers a hiking stick program to help people develop healthy habits of hiking with others and enjoying nature.
In order to earn a hiking stick, participate from April 1 to June 30 in 10 hikes in six Lorain County Metro Parks, and ask a park naturalist to sign off on your hiking stick form for each hike.
People who previously earned a hiking stick can receive a pin to add to the stick.
In years past, the hiking sticks were created by talented park rangers.
A hiking stick program form is here.
Information about Lorain County Metro Parks trails begins here.
However, in order for your hiking stick form to be signed by a naturalist, you need to hike with a naturalist on a planned hike. The April Arrowhead is not available yet, but to get an idea about hikes available with naturalists, visit the January-February Arrowhead here.
