Black Keys coming back home again, with a night at Blossom Music Center

Downtown Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse has grabbed some recent headlines regarding a couple of big-time rock shows coming this year in Rage Against the Machine and Foo Fighters.

And while we increasingly think of another big Northeast Ohio venue as being for top country shows, Cuyahoga Falls’ Blossom Music Center still can rock when it wants to.

And rock it will on Aug. 11 when Akron’s favorite musical sons, The Black Keys, play the hometown gig on their 35-date “Let’s Rock” 2020 summer tour.

They’ll have a few different openers on the tour but scheduled to support them at Blossom are incredibly talented blues-rock guitarist-vocalist Gary Clark Jr. and Yola, a Grammy Award-nominated English singer-songwriter.

The Black Keys are, of course, singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney, a duo from the Rubber City that’s gone on to have incredible success in the music world. This tour is named after their ninth studio album, released last year.

States a news release from event promoter Live Nation, “‘Let’s Rock’ has received critical praise, with Paste saying, ‘If you want something you can crank up at backyard barbecues or in the car with the windows down, well, The Black Keys have two words for you, and they’re in the album title.’”

Last year, before the album’s release, The Black Keys played what is now Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Perhaps this summer they just wanted the fresh Northeast Ohio air that comes with a night at Blossom.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Feb. 28. Begin your quest for them here.
